Bookstop is the revival of an international culture corner in downtown Athens, at the Zoodochou Pigis Square. We have been in the foreign bookselling business for over 28 years & hold close ties to TSIGARIDAS’ international bookstores.
Our mission is to bring cultures and people together through the power of world literature and travel, as well as the learning of other languages. We aim to foster communication among peoples by providing a great selection of book & audio material in the languages of your choice, in addition to contemporary and classic fiction and non fiction currently being read in other parts of the world.
Our ultimate goal is to provide our customers with an enriching, personal global experience in world fiction and non fiction, carry the best travel guides, maps and offer special tips to enhance your trip!
We aim to help you read your way to being global citizens of the world.
About the brand identity and the concept design
The logo was inspired by the bus-stop poles and the national highway signs that come to symbolize transfer – itinerary – journey as well as rest – communication - acquaintance. As for the interior of the store, the main architectural concept was to allow light and colour to give a structure to the space and create a single, distinctive character.
Inspired by the works of American artist Dan Flavin, the luminous ceiling is meant to perform a dual role: unify the space horizontally, and create a soft division vertically; provide uniform and comfortable lighting levels to the visitors while above it infuses bookstop with its signature green color.
